The Universal Call

Thy mercy brought forth the Messenger of perfection,

From all corners of the globe we face in one direction,

As we bow down our heads, falling in complete submission,

Not a single bird sings, without His permission,

The most humble of ways we have been taught to walk,

The most noble in manners is the way in which we talk,

Repentance, the key, to elevation of one's status,

In obedience to Him, we strive to make our hearts stainless,

Feed not your desires or give in to your whims,

Human we are, therefore we are prone to sin,

O you who seek change, be you the most sinful of all,

Come forth and embrace, the universal call,

Welcome be all, to the purest of ways,

To follow the example, of the one worthy of praise

"And certainly, you (O Muhammad) call them to the Straight Path (Monotheism)"

(Surah Al-Mu'minoon - The Believers: 23:73)

An Acquaintance With Death
When Tears Replace My Words

Yesterday I met Death

He said I shall see you tomorrow

He told me prepare for the day

Your last breath shall be swallowed

A destiny that is certain

So the righteous ones, I shall follow

Clenching a fist full of dirt

I let faith drown the sorrow

Upon reflection, I smile

Heavenly winnows and willows

Thoughts of a noble countenance

Beheld beneath the barrow

So, shed not a tear

Or feel troubled or hollow

In my acquaintance with Death

Let him claim that which is borrowed

Delay not my departure

Or waste an instant in woe

For I live for my Beloved

And unto Him I shall go

"Say: "The Angel of Death put in charge of you, will (duly) take your souls: Then shall ye be brought back to your Lord."

(Surah Al-Sajdah - Prostration: 32:11)

No song I have ever heard, like the songs of the morning birds,

No tongue has sang the words, when these emotions can not be deterred,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

Lost in the longing for the divine, whilst intoxicated by His wine,

Bewildered in the trials of time, please accept these tears of mine,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

With the remembrance of His mercy, no tribulation has ever hurt me,

Lofty blessings for which I am not worthy, please Lord do not desert me,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

Soulful whispers and golden scriptures, with tales of a foretold witness,

Ecstasy in hopeful pictures, my own disease is my own sickness,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

The dagger or the spear? My travels have brought me here,

The heavens then draw near, once the horizon has been cleared,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

In my sins my soul tends to plummet, have you ever seen or discovered?

The visions of the beloved, there is no joy that is above it,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

The real side, it never shows, the torment nobody knows,

The scent of a gifted rose, true love just tends to grow,

When tears replace my words, when these tears replace my words

Although my tears replace my words, I can not claim that I have heard,

The sound of tears when they grow, or the landing of the snow,

Some may find these tears absurd, some prefer to embrace the choice of words,

I let these tears replace my words, please let these tears replace my words,

Because these tears replace all words! ... these tears replace ALL word

"And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses"

(Surah Al-Ma'idah - The Table Spread: 5:83)

Social Dilemma

Let’s all backchat on Snapchat,

Tweet our egos on Twitter,

Have a gossip on WhatsApp,

And Instagram the babysitter,

How many faces are you faced with,

When your face is stuck in Facebook?

How much time is spent wasted,

When we realise that the days up?

Send a Telegram to the masses,

And tell them that you’re okay,

So long as our time is spent being productive,

And we don’t become lazy when time to pray,

BB'd the beevee (no Wi-Fi),

She told me to stay put,

A simple text message, no longer impressive,

For the children of today, look ...

Drop your phones, tablets and computers,

Be human with people you meet,

And don’t forget to wear a loud smile,

Because true love cannot be discreet,

Pay attention to the world around you,

The sounds of nature they are so sweet,

Pray the Lord make our time with Him intimate,

In those moments before we sleep,

Put down the TV remote,

And ask your neighbours if they are in need,

Life isn’t about your image,

It’s about seeking the face of God, so let us proceed,

Electronical ebonics,

Chronicle our emotions now,

Abbreviated our own fate,

With that fake meaningless smile.

But stay connected, are you connected,

To those who really connect?

Just one moment of vibrant silence,

Should be enough for us to reflect.
